Warmers for the season

The Erie County (NY) Chapter of The Links, Incorporated, sponsored their annual “Warmers” for the Season project designed for elementary students in the Buffalo area. Each year during the month of February, a school is selected to receive these gifts. The month of February is chosen to help with replenishing lost items and to issue new items for those in need. The items were displayed in a manner similar to a department store display. The students were allowed to shop and select items of their choice. The surprised looks on their faces when they entered the room and the joy heard in their voices reinforced our goal which was to extend services to those in need.

The current school principal, Tonja Williams acknowledged The Erie County (NY) Chapter of The Links, Incorporated, for making a huge impact in the community by helping children keep warm in sub-zero temperatures. The children and the administrative staff are extremely grateful, as the school has a 98% poverty rate. This generous donation was able to benefit many of the children in the school. The project is sponsored by the National Trends and Service Facet.
